After school in Thuringia and university in Britain, I worked in the travel industry all over Europe — which is how I ended up in Austria and in St. Johann in Tirol.
Here I worked in travel company offices and in hospitality, with stints abroad as a tour guide in between — Portugal was always my favourite.
In early 2023 I seized the chance to take over the little place that became the Feier·Abend.
With wine I am a self-taught enthusiast with ambition: I have completed the first level of the sommelier training and the next is due. In between I learn where it counts most — in the grower's cellar, tasting, asking questions. You are never finished with it, and that is exactly what I like about it.
By now the Feier·Abend is a fixture of St. Johann’s bar scene, small as we are. And that’s exactly the point: a meeting place for friends, guests, fellow hosts, musicians, managers after a hard day, tradesmen after an even harder one — and many others too: perfectly sober observers, and every now and then a guest with a little more thirst.
It simply makes me happy that the Feier·Abend has become a place where everyone is welcome and where people treat each other like people.
